Haruka Kuroda

JAPANESE. Youthful actress & VO from Kyoto with Tokyo and Kansai accents.

Haruka trained at Guildford School Of Acting, and has since become an experienced actress, singer and VO.  She has a broad range of deliveries from young girls and boys to their parents! 

She is part of the internationally acclaimed Gorillaz - an animated pop band, formed by Blur's front man Damon Albarn and the creator of 'Tank Girl', Jamie Hewlett.  From the beginning Haruka has been voicing one of the characters - a young Japanese girl called Noodle, which includes live backing singing for international tours across the US, UK, Europe and Japan.

Other credits include film roles in One Minute Past Midnight (short film / Winner, Chicago Film Festival, 2005), Iris (directed by Sir Richard Eyre), Swinging With The Finkels and Foster. 

On TV she's shown herself to be an effective comic actress, as can be seen in her playing Yasuko in Ideal (
BBC3 - all 6 series) with Johnny Vegas.  Other appearances include roles in Jonathan Creek with Alan Davies, Chaos Laboratories with Paul Kaye, and Grass with Simon Day.

Her VO work includes character voicing in games such as Space Colony People, Siren 2, Genji and Shogun 2, and numerous characters in
BBC Radio 4 plays including her roles of Mariko in Kazuo Ishiguro' A Pale View of Hills, and Shimau in Haruki Murakami's After The Quake.  She's also voiced a range of corporate and educational materials for clients including Prolingua, Dell, Aljazeera International and Oxford University Press, and documentary narration for Japanarama.  In 2009 she sang the jingle used in Oasis soft drinks commercials.

Haruka is also a qualified stage combat instructor and professional translator / interpreter.
