John Carter

John is best known for his television presenting on ITV's Wish You Were Here?.  His background in travel broadcasting stretches back to 1969 when he was involved in creating the BBC's Holiday programme which aired until 1987.  More recent appearances include the four-part documentary Best Years Of Our Lives? (Carlton), the travel quiz Where In The World? (BBC 2 & Channel 4), and Attractions (Channel 5).

John
's media career began in the old fashioned way - as a teaboy and general dogs-body on his local newspaper in the city of Worcester, and after his stint with the RAF he joined the Sheffield Telegraph.  From here he joined the Kemsley Group and was appointed Travel Editor, and then went on to become Travel Correspondent for The Times and Travel Editor of Good Housekeeping.

John
's voiceovers include recordings for a multitude of clients including Mercedes, Netherlands Tourism, Northern Electric, Irish Tourist Board, Kodak, Coachmark, Chevron, Renault, RCI, Union Cruises, and Capital Region USA.  He has also been a regular contributor to Radio 2's Jimmy Young Show for several years, and has hosted and addressed sales, incentive conferences and award ceremonies for organisations including Panasonic, Abbey Life and the Canadian High Commission.

John is a Fellow Of The Royal Geographical Society and a Fellow Of The Institute Of Travel & Tourism, and in 1996 he was named Travel Writer Of The Year in the prestigious Travalex Awards.  In that same year he became associated with the Family Holiday Association, a travel industry charity, becoming a co-patron (with Prunella Scales) and continuing to raise money for that organisation
