Sam Spiegel

FRENCH. Experienced actor and VO - character specialist.

Sam hales from Metz, France, and has a broad range of professional experience both in the UK and France, on stage and screen. He has fluent French (with multiple regional accents), English and Italian.  He was trained in London at the International School Of Theatre (with Philippe Gaulier), in France at L'Ecole de Théâ (with Michel Galabru) and in the US at The Actors Studio New York (with Tony Greco).  He's a full member of British Equity, as well as the French equivalent, Adami.

On the big screen he was Prof. Pierre Vallade (psychiatrist) in Emulsion, Angel (gangster) in
Le Furet, Leon (drugdealer) in A Quiet Day, the French Ambassador in Evita, and a GI in Saving Private Ryan.  His TV roles include credits in the UK for Bonekickers (BBC), The Queen's Sister (Channel 4), Roger Roger II (BBC), A Wing And A Prayer (Channel 4), Hale & Pace (ITV), and Schubert (starring role), and in France they include Pigalle La Nuit (Canal +), Le Grand Charles (France 2), Josephine Guardian Angel and Largo Winch.  He even appeared in Madonna's pop video for Drowned World / Substitute For Love (1998)!

On stage he's performed in French productions of La Nuit Du 16 Janvier (Paris & Alpes), Voyages Sans Voyage (touring), Mary Stuart (touring), La Peur Des Coups (Théâtre Michel Galabru, Paris), Lethal Romance (Art Studio, Paris), Le Secret De Schouane (Art Studio, Paris), and Les Trentiemes Rugissant (Paris).

His voice work has been very varied.  He's delivered a plethora of characters for games including Iron Man II, Dark Omen (EA), Glowball, and Driver 2, as well as a number of wacky 'toon characters for Canal Jimmy (London).  He's also voiced loads of verbal utterance for advertisers including Iomega, Aquafresh, Royal Cones (ice-cream), Chrysalis Sport, Esso, Phileas Fogg (crisps) (
US) and the National Campaign Against Alcohol Abuse (France).

Of a more conventional nature are his recordings for various ADR projects including Ridley Scott's Robin Hood, Largo Winch, Anna Karé, Beautiful People, The Proprietor, Vanity Fair and Incognito, as well as corporate work for clients including British Airways, Esso UK, Shell France, Euro Disney, Bally International (shoes), Pilkington (double-glazing), and Eurofighter.  He's also recorded a number of documentary pieces including Classical Destinations (re-voicing Simon Callow), A World To Explore (narrator, for Discovery), Deadliest Catch (narrator, for Discovery), and Przewalski's Horses (Rolex Awards).
