Lisa Genovese

ITALIAN. Experienced actress & VO – alluring, sultry, warm, friendly...adaptable!

Lisa is native Italian and English bilingual actress, with a broad range of deliveries from young, upbeat and sassy, to warm, sophisticated and mature, across stage, screen and most platforms of VO.  She trained in Rome, at the Method Acting School, and worked with many professionals including Anny D’Abbraccio, Francesca De Sapio (Duse Studio), Giancarlo Sepe and Susan Strasberg (Teatro la Comunita), and Caroline De Fonseca.  Since moving to the London she’s also trained in the Meisner technique at Lamda, Actors Centre, Actors Guild, City Lit and TVI (NYC).

Her on-screen roles include Maria in Imbroglio, Iris in Where The Flies Are, Sandra in A Dream Or A Love Story, Leyla in No Winners, and Sarah in Forty Something.

On stage she was Rosalie in Lady Windermere’s Fan, Francesca in The Enchanted Angel, Vera in Stepping Out, Alice Fisher in Blue Window, Mariana in Measure For Measure, and Dulcinea in Don Quixote.

Her voice work includes corporate pieces for Warner Brothers,
Paramount, Cellozone, MTV, Fox Sky Italia, BT, Microsoft, Ikea, Ford Europe, European Space Agency, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Cisco Systems and Vodafone.  She’s also recorded continuity for National Geographic, and promos for Netflix, BBC, Nickelodeon and Sky Fox Italia among others.  Her recent commercial VOs include Akamai, BlackRock, Babyliss, Finish, Sun Svelto, YouTube, H&M, Amazon Alexa, and many more.

Lisa’s character voicing includes a tonne of ADR/dubbing work, which is hardly surprising given the prestige of the film dubbing tradition in
Italy.  Her titles include House of Gucci, Signora Volpe, Trust, The Man From UNCLE, The Eleventh Hour, Star Trek VII, Memphis Belle, Batman, Gremlins and Dreams.  She also has a number of game voicing credits, including Half Life 2 and Formula 1, and she’s voiced numerous animation characters such as Dizzy in Bob The Builder (Hit Entertainment / Talking Toys), Leona in Paddlepop Kombatei (Wall’s), Lucy in My Friend Boo (EcoAnimation), and Fraw Holle in Madama Holle (BBC).

Lisa is also highly experienced in home recording, having her own home studio and being Source Connect Certified – so unlike so many home-rec artists she’s not a Covid-lockdown-induced nube at this!

Lisa’s also had long-standing interest in directing, which started from her collaboration as assistant director for the renowned Mario Maldesi – this providing her first entry into ADR (on Dreams, by Akiro Kurosawa).  In this vein she’s assisted with talent vetting and language coaching, for example directing the Italian dubbed version of Jump (Manmade Films), and translating and subtitling lots of films, including Seabiscuit, The Recruit, Forrest Gump and Rosemary’s Baby.
